The inspiration for Mosaic bloomed from the friendship and shared educational philosophies of Jayne and Angela - two savvy homeschooling parents seeking community and quality learning experiences for their soon-to-be middle school aged children in 2009. What began initially as monthly bookclub meet-ups with friends blossomed into weekly classes in history, creative writing and science at the local library in 2011. Fast forward to 2022 and Mosaic has evolved into a broad educational resource serving numerous homeschooling students throughout NJ.
Our mission is to provide academically enriching courses that enable the home educator to utilize one class or many as a part of his or her core homeschooling curriculum. We strive to offer a variety of courses in Humanities and STEM subjects each year, focusing especially on those class experiences that benefit students most in a collaborative, small group setting.
Mosaic Freeschool is not a homeschool co-operative where parents are expected to remain on site, volunteer hours, or teach classes. All classes are drop-off and facilitated by passionate, experienced instructors. Using the university model, most classes are ninety-minutes in length, and students may sign up for one or more classes to create a custom-fit experience. Our academic year is divided into two fifteen-week sessions, fall and spring.
