Philosophy for Children (ages 11-13) Mondays 11am - 12pm Students will engage as philosophers through Socratic dialogue while building a community of inquiry where curiosity and questioning are encouraged and reasoning skills are honed. Through guided discussions, we will grapple with age-old questions including: “What is friendship?”, “What is justice?”, “How can I be sure of what I know?” “What does it mean to be fair?” “What is real?”. Students will learn how to create hypotheses, clarify their terms, ask for and give good reasons, question each other’s assumptions, draw inferences and follow an inquiry to where it leads. 60 min classes/12-week session
TED-Ed Club (ages 11-13) Mondays 12:30pm - 2:30pm “What makes your heart beat faster?” “How can your ideas change the world?” We’ll use TED-Ed’s flexible curriculum to help students identify their passions, choose their Big Idea and shape a story only they can tell! Activities include guided brainstorming sessions, peer feedback exercises, and crafting & recording a TED-style talk. We’ll celebrate each other's ideas and practice the important skills of communication and presentation. 2 hr classes/12-week session
**Note: Students that stay for both classes will have a 30-min lunch break between classes
